At least 29 persons were killed and a dozen injured after the bus in which they were travelling plunged into a deep gorge in Calicut district of Nepal. The accident took place last night. The moment the police were informed about this mishap, they rushed to the stop and alerted the rescue team. After much effort, the rescue team recovered 29 dead bodies and several injured persons. The people who sustained injuries were sent to the nearby hospital for treatment.
The police officials said that they could carry out rescue operations in the night since it was pitch dark. On Tuesday morning, the operations started and several people were rescued, they added stating that the casualties might increase further. There's no information about the details of the passengers so far. The sources said that reckless driving could have led to the accident.
