Government to push for FDI in aviation, Mamatha relents

After Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamatha banarjee had given the go-ahead for the FDI in aviation, Government is all geared up to push the proposal now. The Cabinet Committee is likely to hold a discussion on the topic of FDI in aviation on Friday. Approval for the same would be announced in the next week.

A few sources also mentioned that Air India would not be included in the proposal.

Earlier Mamatha Banarjee the chief minister of West Bengal had been against the proposal and had been a major obstacle to the government in making further progress in the civil aviation sector.

Many airlines are on the brink of bankruptcy or poor financial affairs and are seeing their worst phases. This new FDI norms might allow them to revive due to foreign investments.
