Brunei Sultan daughter's wedding

In what could be flouted as the world's most prodigal wedding, Brunei Sultan's daughter was married to a civil servant in Brunei on Friday. The marriage would continue for a week with a large number of guests on the list which exceeds 2000 would continue till the night of Sunday according to Daily Mail.

On Sunday night, the new couple would be presented at the court. The original ceremony has taken place at the Sultan's own palace of 1,700 rooms, Istana Nurul Iman Palace. In 2004, the son of the Sultan, the direct heir to the throne, was married at a lavish wedding that costs $5 million. Maya Kalman, the wedding planner says that the $5 million was quite modest compared to his daughter's wedding which could have been far greater her brother's. She mentioned that the average luxurious weddings that they undertake have a bill of $1000 per head and with a no-holds-barred even like this the cost could have easily touched the $15 to $20 million mark. For a Sultan, if you are thinking this is below what you expected, the price was just for the wedding event. Add around the same amount for the celebration during the week for the total estimate.

Traditionally, Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah, 32, was present at the ceremony earlier than the groom Pengiran Haji Muhammad Ruzaini, 29. The princess is the fifth child of the Sultan and his wife, Queen Saleha.
