The history of Indian independence struggle would undoubtedly be incomplete without mentioning Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Although he chose extremist methods and became a martyr, his brave approach and undying love for the country made several people awestruck. Till date Bhagat Singh remains as the hero for many youngsters. Born on September 28 (some sources say it as 27 September), Bhagat Singh developed love for the country from his early life. During his childhood days, he became a follower of Gandhi but eventually lost faith in him after non-cooperation movement was withdrawn. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre had an impact on Bhagat Singh, who was then a child. It was said that he collected the mud filled with blood in a jar from Jallianwala Bagh. To kick the imperialists out of India, Bhagat Singh approached Hindustan Republican Association and joined hands with Chandrashekar Azad, Bismil, Rajguru and Sukhdev to fight British empire.
Commemorating his 105th birth anniversary tomorrow, the social activists from India and Pakistan are all set to jointly celebrate the day in Lahore. The programs include a seminar on Bhagat Singh's life at Dayal Singh Auditorium in Lahore and a documentary on Bhagat Singh.
