In a shocker, Zee News has sent a defamation notice of Rs 150 crore to the steel magnate, Naveen Jindal accusing him of maligning their image by blaming them of "blackmailing and extortion". They also said that Jindal was trying to divert the attention of the people towards them while they would forget about the undue profits he gained from the alleged involvement in the coal block allocation scam.
Zee News has earlier showcased his "Coalgate" involvement and the scams in several episodes on the news channel. With this defamation notice, the channel has now granted the steel magnate three days time to withdraw his statements alleging blackmailing and extortion, failing which they would take the matter to court initiating civil and criminal procedures against Naveen Jindal.
Earlier at a press conference on Thursday, Naveen released a video recording of meetings with Zee TV executives while providing video proof that they blackmailed him for a handsome sum of Rs 100 crores on advertising to keep mum on the unfavorable stories against him in the coal scam.
