Offenses against women are continuing to hit headlines, unfortunately, even in the age of advanced technology and education. In a similar incident, a 19-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree in Dodballapur on Tuesday evening. The incident sent shock waves among locals especially when they learned that she was abetted to commit suicide after alleged rape by a gang of four from the same village.

The reports said that the person who saw the girl last informed her parents that the gang of four were passing lewd comments on her besides rounding her up and stalking. The identified persons-Gangadhar, Narasimhamurthy,Pradeed and Praveen-were went absconding after victims' parents slapped a police complaint against the four on alleged rape and murder of their daughter. The police said that a detailed post mortem report was yet to come following which they would be ascertaining the charges under which they have to be booked. For now, the police registered the case of unnatural death.
