The minority Hindus in Pakistan strongly protested the destruction of a temple in the southern part of Karachi City by a builder. They have also complained against the increasing harassment and discrimination and overall persecution in Islam-dominated Pakistan in recent years, including the destruction of monuments having strong religious significance.
The members of the Hindu community said on Sunday that a builder with a police escort bulldozed an old temple in one of the southern neighborhoods of Karachi, along with some surrounding buildings. Lately religious intolerance has been a key topic of debate in Pakistan, a country where fundamentalist elements want to introduce total Islamic sharia law.
