In a gruesome incident of honour killing, in Kolkata, a 29 year old youth beheaded his sister with a single blow of his sword in front of full public glare and then took the head to the police station to surrender.

The terrifying incident took place in Ayubnagar locality of Nadial, a place merely 13km away from  Kolkata city centre. According to the Police , Mehtab Alam killed his sister Nilofar Bibi and then walked to Nadial police station with the head in his left hand and the sword in his right, dripping blood all along the way.

Explaining the reason behind this heinous act he told the police that his sister was married to Akbar Ali and had two children but recently she reunited with her first boyfriend Firoz and was staying with him at Ayubnagar. Allegedly this move by the victim invited harsh criticism from the locals and hurt Mehtab Alam to the core .“I have no feelings that I have done any wrong. I have carried out my duties as an elder brother,” an unapologetic Mehtab added. The investigation is going on and the killer is in Police custody.
