Aseem Trivedi who was earlier arrested under the charges of sedition for the controversial cartoons had been protesting for the past 8 days at Jantar Mantar had ended his fast courtesy of Arvind Kejriwal, the president of the Aam Aadmi party.
His fast was a mark of protest against the 'unconstitutional law' that reduced the freedom of the people in the nation. After Kejriwal urged that he was wasting his time and life on the fast and that he should use the same for 'uprooting the government' instead, Trivedi was convinced.
Trivedi and his colleague Alok Diskshit both gave up the fast at the protest site after Kejriwal handed them a glass of juice.
It is important to note that Trivedi was against Kejriwal earlier for opting the political route. However today, he said that he understood it was the right move.
He said, "we tried to put forth out point in front of the government but they paid no heed to our words" adding that the country now needed a political option.
He reiterated that enforcing the section 66 of the IT Act made the government look like Taliban.
