After Finance Minister P Chidambaram proposed to hike the excise duty on cigarettes to 18 per cent as a result Tobacco products will become costlier

Moreover, sports utility vehicles will also be costly after Mr Chidambaram announced a hike in excise duty from current 27 per cent to 30 per cent and that the higher duty will not be applicable to SUVs registered as taxis.

According to Mr Chidambaram, the excise duty on motorcycles with engine capacity of 800 cc or more will go up by 60-75 per cent while also the excise duty on marbles will go up from Rs. 30 per cent feet to Rs. 60 per feet.

It's a great thought in fact to hike in these prices because they are anyway not that important for our livelihood.
