One weird marriage in Tshwane, South Africa, has been a head turner for the world over. An eight year old kid was married to his own grandmother who was 61.
Sanele Masilela, the school boy happily tied the knot with his 61 year old grandmother as they exchanged rings in front of 100 relatives, near and dear. They even kissed after the exchange of rings. The five children of the grandmother and her husband were at the wedding too.
However, fortunately for the kid, they don't live together or have a marriage certificate signed with their names. The marriage was just a namesake because Masilela had a dream (nightmare, if I may), in which his dead ancestors told him that he should marry the grandmother. The family also said that the marriage was merely a ritual and not a legal bond.
Patience, the mother of the child aged 46, said that his grandfather wished that the boy get married before his death. Fearing something bad would happen if they didn't marry and that they would make the ancestors happy if they performed the marriage, Shabangu agreed with the new mother in law.
