Snowden intensifies US-Russia friction

Determined to show what the US is really up to, Edward Snowden dared to reveal top secret information. Hiding at the Russian airport, he has dealt with the outside world through the media and Human Rights groups. With latest updates hinting at a permanent asylum in Russia, Snowden may just be responsible for a flare up of an already sore relation between US and Russia.

According to reports, the Russian Migration service is considering his application for temporary asylum in Russia. If it’s granted, he can roam the country freely and even renew the documents each year. The White House has already warned Russia of ‘long term problems’ in case the issue is not resolved amicably. Called an unwelcome gift by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Edward Snowden was told to refrain from any activity that might harm the US further. Though he refused it at first, he has seemingly agreed to it now.
