Unemployment woes plague US

As American dream continues to elude the countrymen and economic gloom sets in, an astonishing ratio of four out of five U.S adults are finding themselves at the helm of poverty and unemployment.

According to the survey findings, the abysmal gap between rich and poor and lack of well-paying manufacturing jobs are to be held responsible for this economic degradation.

Even President Barack Obama, recognizing these deep economic flaws as major impediments, is trying to salvage his country's economy by renewing plans that will stress on rebuilding ladders of opportunity and reversing income inequality.

The President has plans to launch public programs to uplift the disadvantaged, especially the whites, who have been the biggest victims of this economic slump.

"I think it's going to get worse," said Irene Salyers, 52, of Buchanan County, who runs a fruit and vegetable stand, but it doesn't generate much income. She mostly lives off government disability checks.

"If you do try to go apply for a job, they're not hiring people, and they're not paying that much to even go to work," she said. Children, she said, have "nothing better to do than to get on drugs."

While racial and ethnic minorities the most susceptible victim of poverty in the States, economic insecurity have engulfed the whites more, revealed the survey.
