The Goa Police have filed a chargesheet today against the former Editor of Tehelka magazine Tarun Tejpal claiming rape and sexual harassment on his fellow journalist. The Crime Branch police reported in their chargesheet that they have sufficient evidence to prove that Tejpal committed the offense and have booked him under sections 354, 354-A, 341, 342, 376, 376(2) (f) and 376(2) (k) of Indian Penal Code [IPC].
The evidence include the statements of the victim, other witnesses, documents and electronic records, all together formed a 2864 pages of Chargesheet report. Tejpal is currently Sada sub jail at Vasco and a bail petition on Tuesday is set to be taken up the Bombay High Court in Goa. However, Tejpal could be denied bail in wake of chargesheet and crime branch police are also set to oppose the bail petition.
Tejpal allegedly raped a female journalist on two consecutive days in the elevator of a five star hotel in North Goa during the Thinkfest event of the magazine in early November last year.
