BJP criticized the Election Commission for being biased and giving permission to Rahul Gandhi for his road show at Varanasi. The Election panel refused to give permit for BJP to campaign at Beniya Bagh citing security reason but have given a go for Rahul Gandhi.
BJP questioned EC's credibility and said, “Why were security reasons cited for Modi and not for the other leaders who are campaigning there? It is blot on the electoral process where a PM candidate has not been allowed to hold rally in his constituency.”
Senior leader Meenakshi Lekhi said, “none of the top Police officials of Uttar Pradesh have raised security concerns on Modi's election campaign but only the District Magistrate of Varanasi is more worried.”
BJP also added that Rahul Gandhi's campaign may not affect Modi's chances and are confident that he will win from Varanasi with atleast a lakh majority.
