Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar demanded a ban on social media with the recent Pune incident. Pawar made this statement in the Maharashtra Assembly however sensing a controversy later added Pawar that restrictions should be impose on social media to avoid violent consequences.
Pawar said, the social media is being misused these days which are leading to Law and Order problem in the state, so like China restrictions should be implemented on social media especially on Facebook. “We should think in those lines and restrict social media. Freedom of expression is a fundamental right but it should not lead to violence,” added Pawar in Assembly.
The opposition parties however remained silent over Pawar comments and were also not in a mood to comment on Pawar's statements. Maharashtra Assembly had a heated discussion on the techie murder in Pune who had made controversial statements on Sivaji which led to his death couple of days back.
With this murder, the Law and Order situation lost the balance in state. NCP supremo Sharad Pawar has accused BJP for the violent scenes in the state.
