The birthday boy thespian acting legend Dilip Kumar celebrated his 89th birthday recently at Mumbai. His actress wife Saira Bano had organised a birthday bash on the eve of the actor's birthday and the party saw the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Dimple Kapadia, Mahesh Bhatt, Deepa Mehta, Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar among others.
At 89, Dilipji was as young as he was way back in the 60’s, the vigour and the vision undeterred, true to his image of being the connoisseur of arts. The legend keeping in track with the latest developments launched into his own twitter account @thedilipkumar and the hot news is that he was introduced and greeted by none other than another legend Amitabh Bachchan.
"Please welcome the Master, the Thespian, the Ultimate .. Dilip Kumar, Dilip Saheb, Yusuf Khan on twitter..ID: @thedilipkumar," Amitabh Bachchan posted. Dilip Kumar's Twitter profile describes him as "actor, friend, philosopher." Giving a glimpse of his joie de vivre on Twitter, Dilip Kumar posted: "It is a true blessing to be so loved and a wonderful feeling to wake up and realise one is younger than was yesterday." Innumerous tweets were received by the acting legend and he was filled with ecstasy. The thespian actor later tweeted, "Spent hours on this screen, read your greetings, your blessings and your prayers. God bless all of you."
Dilipji’s depictions of live portrayals of characters are immemorial. He is a thesaurus to the young acting aspirants. Few, I remember were Amar, Madhumati, Devdas, Shaheed, Leader, Daag, Naya Daur and Mughal-E-Azam.
Dilipji’s impact on Indian Cinema is everlasting and a classic example is a tweet from the Shahenshah of B-Wood, Amitabh Bachchan: T 585 -History of Indian Cinema when documented shall always record .. ' before Dilip Kumar, after Dilip Kumar ' ..an immeasurable yardstick.
South Indian Superstar Rajnikanth was also a great fan of Dilip Kumar. He had specifically informed on many occasions that he was much influenced by the veteran legend. Such was the regards dedicated to the legend from across the Indian Cinema.
