Union Telecom and HRD Minister Kapil Sibal says that all states are included in NCTC as such there in fact should not be an misgivings about it but if at all any doubts or objections are there, that can be sorted out by reasoning and through dialogue.
National Counter Terrorism Center proposed by the Central Government to deal with the terrorist activities in the Country vesting them with powers to arrest and interrogate any one without State Government’s permission to do so is loudly protested by all political parties other than Congress.
Oppsing NCTC came from 13 states that include Mamta Benarjee from West Bengal, Jaya Lalita from Tamil Nadu, Narendra Modi from Gujarat, Chandrababu Naidu from Andhra Pradesh and from Odisha.
Although every is objecting apparently on the basis of threat to federal system of the country, real objection seems to be a threat to themselves as NCTC may join the armory of the Central Government that too a powerful one to control other than congress party leaders. Terrorism has to be dealt with but the very weapon should not be the one to create terror in the country. Already CBI, ED and ACB are criticized as the teeth of the Central Government.
The protesters are worried about the bigger, sharper and powerful tooth called NCTC. (SJ)
