Satyamev Jayate, the fourth episode that was scheduled for the day is another landmark of its kind and deals with a precarious issue in a discussion manner. Ever since the Aamir Khan hosted serial was on the small screen since the last four Sundays (including today), TRP rating has been soaring. In spite of many controversies that tried to hinge the serial’s impact the program has emerged as a winner.
Episode no: 4 on air today was focused on health care services in our country. A famous quote that comes to my memory is of that great brain, Sir William Osler. “One of the first duties of the physician is to educate the masses not to take medicines.” But what is happening today is absolutely contrary to this. The moment we step into a doctor’s clinic we end up with a list of tests and medicines. This is what that had been discussed at length in the show.
Aamir’s guests on the show included doctors, victims and families who lost their loved ones due to negligence of doctors. This is a country where Doctors are treated like Gods. However contrary to this is what is happening is the strong statement made by the latest episode.
The first episode which covered the despicable reality of female foeticide in India, throwing light on how female foeticide prevails not just in rural areas, but in urban cities as well. The second episode’s emphasis on child sex abuse showcased some tear-jerking moments among the audience and the host. The third episode dealt with the ill-effects of dowry, shows that the dowry system is prevalent across the nation (except north eastern states), social strata and religion. The evil of dowry is all-pervasive, yet it is not impossible to fight it. (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
