As GoM is busily engaged in the meetings with the State political parties as part of the process of State bifurcation, the TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao announced yesterday that the party will not merge with the Congress party. He also said the TRS party will not have any alliance with any of the parties in the 2014 elections.
It seems that TRS is sure of its strength in the region in the wake of the process of Telangana State formation being fast forwarded by the Congress party at Center. TRS is not perturbed in spite of Congress party’s trying to propagate that the Telangana State is becoming reality because of the Congress party.
Congress party has been conducting public meeting in the Telangana region to build goodwill to the party by telling that the Telangana people should be indebted to Sonia Gandhi. They have gone to the extent that a temple should be constructed for Sonia Gandhi.
TRS party chief KCR met the District leaders of the party and the trainers to decide on conducting one more round of training program to the party cadre. The meeting also was aimed at gathering information about the points to be sent to GoM.
Instead of KCR, other TRS leaders talked about their decision against merger in the presence of KCR. To support their stand they talked about the Center’s toying with the idea of giving Union Territory status to Hyderabad. The party leaders made it clear in the meeting that the party is not prepared to lose Administration of Hyderabad or its revenue. They are also particular about Bhadrachalam to remain in Telangana State.
Congress party on the other hand is sure of TRS merger with Congress party. That is the reason why they are not talking anything about it. The Center is only talking about formation of Telangana not minding pressures from Seemandhra and stepping steadily towards its implementation but not talking anything about the mergers as it is not important at this time. It is also because that stand alone can bring credibility to the party in the region and make it easy to TRS to convince that they have achieved what they got and they would now go into oblivion as the purpose is served. That way the goodwill of the leaders of TRS will go up.
Political game in AP has now became very interesting and keeping its tempo with the regular briefing of Digvijay Singh of the happenings at Center and with the comments of the political leaders in the State.
The situation at present has made the political leaders to sharpen their wits to play the politics with caution as a small fault at this time can make a huge difference as there may not be enough time left to correct their steps as the elections are getting closer.
