Tragedy struck a batch of Telugu pilgrims in UP today. 8 pilgrims, all belonging to the Gudur town of the Nellore district, were killed in a road accident this afternoon when they were journeying to Allahabad from Ayodhya in their Safari vehicle.
Reports reaching Hyderabad said that their vehicle collided head-on with a tanker plying in the opposite direction while negotiating a curve on the high way.
The accident occurred when the pilgrims, who included 6 women, were returning after taking the Pushkar dip in the holy Ganges.
Hyderabad police received information that seven of the victims died on the spot and the eighth pilgrim succumbed to her injuries in a hospital
