Tainted Tollywood producer C. Kalyan, who was arrested by the AP CID police in Chennai two days ago and brought to Hyderabad last night, was produced before the Nampally criminal courts today.
The court sent him to judicial remand till July 11 following which the police moved him to the Charlapally Central Jail immediately. Kalyan was arrested in two cheating and threatening cases after the owners of the Shalimar and Universal Videos lodged complaints against him.
The complaints said that they had paid money for the video rights of the movies Komaram Puli and Khaleja to Kalyan but he had cheated them by not giving the rights. They had said in their complaints that both Kalyan and Singanamala Ramesh threatened them with dire consequences when asked for the return of their advance amounts paid to them.
