Continuing the saga of resignations for the second day today seeking the formation of separate state of Telangana, Minister for Textiles Shankar Rao, who was initially not willing to quit, faxed his resignation to the assembly speaker from the US today.
With this, the number of the congress and TDP MLAs and MPs who have quit their seats of assembly demanding the formation of the separate state of Telangana has risen to 98. The number includes 42 congress MLAs inclusive of 12 ministers, 33 TDP MLAs, 2 PRP MLAs, 3 Independents, 4 TDP rebels and 14 MPs of the congress, TDP and TRS.
The number of MPs who had resigned has now reached 14 with TRS chief KCR and his colleague Ms Vijayasanthi faxing their quit letters today to the Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar.
Two MPs of TDP Ramesh Rathod and Nama Nageswara rao had also submitted their resignations today to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha personally. Nine Congress members of the Lok Sabha and one Rajya Sabha member of the T region had submitted their quit papers on the first day on Monday.
Apart from the above, 12 MLCs of the congress and 3 MLCs of the TDP had also submitted their resignations on Monday for the sake of Telangana.
