Striking a different note from the stance of the other Seema Andhra leaders on the Telangana issue, Minister Satrucharla Vijayarama raju said today that the state capital should be nearer to the peoples of the state.
Speaking to media persons in Srikakulam, he said the present capital city Hyderabad is far away from Srikakulam and people are suffering to go all the way to Hyderabad to get things done. Indicating that he wasn’t opposing the division of the state, the minister, who was elected to the assembly from Parvathipuram constituency in Vijayanagaram district, said the state is being destroyed with Telangana and anti Telangana agitations. How long shall this continue?” he asked angrily.
Distancing himself from the other Seema Andhra congress leaders who have been putting pressure on the congress high command not to divide the state, the minister said no one should bring pressure on the party leadership.
“We shall not use pressure tactics against the government or congress leadership. The high command knows how to decide and what decision to take on Telangana,” he said indirectly criticizing his party colleagues of the Seema Andhra area.
