Union Minister and in-charge of the congress affairs in AP, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, who has begun the process of negotiations with the congress leaders of the three areas in the state on the issue of Telangana, is facing a fresh demand for the creation of Manya Seema state to be carved out of the main tribal areas.
Nine tribal MLAs, led by R. Kantha Rao, are seeking a separate state of tribal areas in the state with Bhadrachalam as the state capital.
“Our cause is being supported by the Union Minister Kishore Chandra Deo and Balaram. Ours is a genuine demand as our tribal areas are also to be developed,” said Mr. Kantha Rao.
The nine tribal MLAs, who left for Delhi this morning, have met Azad and submitted a written memorandum seeking the creation of Manya Seema state. Tomorrow, they will meet the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister P. Chidambaram to express their demands.
On August1, they will meet the President Smt Pratibha Patil and submit a memorandum with the same demand.
