Centre deletes 14 F, sends file to President

chidambaramIn a clear victory to the Telangana protagonists, the Centre today decided to delete the 14 F clause from the zonal guidelines governing the recruitment of police posts in Hyderabad city.

The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Union Cabinet met this evening at the residence of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in Delhi and decided to remove the clause after a brief debate.

The PCA then decided to send the file to the Rashtrapathi Bhavan for approval by the President of India. Home Minister P. Chidambaram is likely to make an announcement on the issue shortly.

Earlier, Chief Minister Kirankumar Reddy telephoned Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and requested him to take an immediate decision on the removal of 14 F clause from the guidelines governing the recruitment of police posts in Hyderabad city.

The PM, in whose office the concerned file was lying for the last four days, told the CM that a decision would be taken in the meeting of the Political Affairs Committee of Cabinet this evening.

The students and T elements are on a warpath demanding the state and central governments to remove 14 F clause and threatening to disrupt the SI examinations scheduled for August 13 and 14.
