Incessant rains that have been lashing Andhra Pradesh for the last four days have abundantly flooded the reservoirs. Almost all reservoirs in the state are now overflowing their limits.
Officials have opened the 22 flood gates of the Jurala project in Mahaboobnagar district as the water level in the reservoir reached 317.9 meters as against its total capacity of 318 meters.
The reservoirs at Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar dams are also being flooded heavily and the officials are releasing the water to maintain levels in the dams. The reservoirs of Sriram Sagar in Nizamabad district and the Mattadivagu reservoir in Adilabad district are also being monitored round the clock as flood water is entering the dams uninterruptedly for the last two days.
The 22 gates of the Gotta Barrage in Srikakulam district are also opened to release the flood water as the River Vamsadhara is overflowing.
