Former Chief Minister of AP, Mr. K. Rosaiah was today sworn in as the Tamil Nadu Governor in Chennai. He succeeds the 86-year old ailing Surjith Singh Barnala.
Mr Rosaiah was administered the oath of office at the Raj Bhavan at a simple ceremony by the Chief Justice Mr M.Y. Eqbal in the presence of Chief Minister Jayalalitha, several ministers and top civil officials. Mr Rosaiah took the oath in English at 4.22 PM.
AP legislative council Chairman Mr Chakrapani, PCC chief Mr. Botsa Satyanarayana, former PCC Chief D.Srinivas, Rajya sabha members V.Hanumantha Rao and KVP Rama Chandra Rao, former minister JC Divakar Reddy and senior APCC leader Mr Tulasi Reddy were also present. Earlier, Jayalalitha and other ministers accorded a warm welcome to Rosaiah when he arrived at the Chennai airport in a special flight from Hyderabad.
Soon after the swearing in ceremony, Chief minister Jayalalitha congratulated Rosaiah.
