Expressing anger at the series of infant deaths taking place in the government hospital at Kurnool, Chief Minister Kirankumar Reddy today ordered the Ministers TG Venkatesh and Satrucharla Vijayarama raju and the District Collector to rush to the hospital and set right the situation.
It may be said that ten infants have died in the last 48 hours in the Kurnool government hospital. The parents of the infants have alleged that the ventilators used by the hospital authorities were faulty and not supplying enough oxygen.
“We have complained several times but nothing has been done to set right the situation,” said some of the parents. Hospital officials however denied the allegations.
Meanwhile, Health Minister DL Ravindra Reddy said that only two out of the ten infants were born in the Kurnool Government hospital and the rest were brought to the Government hospital from the private hospitals in the last minute. “The death of the two infants born in the government hospital has occurred because they were born with less weight,” said the minister.
