Some of the Wiki leaks papers, leaked three days ago, had established that the congress government in the AP led by the late YSR was an embodiment of corruption.

Wiki leaks , quoting the American consulate official Mr.David Hopper, said that Mr. YSR resorted to corruption in the garb of welfare programs for the downtrodden.

The papers say that the diplomat of the US Consul General in Chennai had sent a report to their government on October 22, 2007 that corruption ruled roost during the YSR regime and the congress leaders engulfed thousands of crores of rupees in the name of Jalayajnam and Indiramma welfare programmes.

“Housing projects and irrigation schemes are full of corruption. It is an open secret that thousands of crores of rupees were eaten away by the leaders but there seemed to be on one to care about it,” said Wiki Leaks papers quoting the report ‘Corruption plagues Andhra Pradesh Big Ticket Spending programs’ prepared by the American diplomats.

The report says that the YSR government had introduced several populist schemes aimed at common man and the schemes had become highly popular. But it was also true that the YSR regime had indulged in an unprecedented bout of corruption like never before in the garb of the welfare schemes and irrigation projects.
