Police seize Rs. 4 Cr cash from Bellary lorry

LoryOn a tip off, the Guntakal police today raided a lorry proceeding towards Hyderabad from Bellary in Karnataka and seized cash amounting to Rs.4 Cr from it. The lorry driver and some persons accompanying the cash boxes were arrested by the police.

The money was reportedly being transported to Hyderabad at the instance of the jailed mining baron Mr Gali Janardhan reddy to be handed over to some unknown persons. Sources said that the money belonged to the Obulapuram Mining Company owned and operated by the Gali brothers.

Reports indicated that an unidentified whistle blower tipped off the police with the complete details of the amount, lorry number and its departure time enabling the police to wait for it at Guntakal and seize the lorry and cash.

The police have registered cases against the arrested persons for illegally transporting money. Lorry driver was being questioned.
