Rumours ruled roost in Guntur and Nalgonda districts last night that the nose stud of the Goddess Kanaka Durga on Indra Keeladri of Vijayawada has loosened out of her nose foreboding a disaster for the mankind.
People of Nagarjuna sagar, Halia, Devarakonda, Miryalaguda, Chanduru and several other villages and towns in both districts had come out on to roads and didn’t sleep fearing an earthquake in and around their towns.
In fact, there were also rumours that an earthquake took place in Macherla town sending shivers down the spines of the people in Guntur district.
Since Monday midnight till Monday morning, people in several towns and villages didn’t go to bed fearing for a disaster like an earthquake or a flood. The rumours of the nose stud of the Goddess Kanakadurga coming out of her nose later proved to be only rumours spread by unscrupulous elements.
