Cong moving fast on Azad report, holds key meeting

CongressMeetingAs expected by everyone, Delhi is moving fast on Telangana. Hours after the Union Minister and in-charge of the congress affairs in AP, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad submitted his report on the T issue to the congress president Sonia Gandhi, the congress core committee met this evening at the residence of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and deliberated on the contents of the report.

The meeting was presided over by Sonia Gandhi and attended by Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Ahmad Patel, political secretary to Sonia Gandhi.

Azad, who held discussions with the congress leaders of both Telangana and Seema Andhra area of AP in the last two months over the issue to find a solution to the Telangana imbroglio, also attended the high level meeting as a special invitee.

The core committee meeting, which began at 6 PM exactly, is still going on when reports last came in. Sources said that the committee was determined to find a solution acceptable to both regions of AP at the earliest.
