Hectic activity on in Delhi over Telangana

CongressCoreMeetingFor the second day today, Delhi is witnessing lot of activity on Telangana issue with consultations going on among various AP political groups which are camping in the country’s capital seeking a quick solution to the nagging problem.

The pro-Telangana groups and activists will also meet several top leaders of the congress party and the opposition BJP on the issue.

The congress core committee meeting, which ended with out taking any decision on Telangana Friday evening, will take place again today for some more discussions to arrive at a decision. The core committee has discussed the issue in the light of the report submitted by the Union Minister and in-charge of AP congress affairs Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad who held consultations with all stake holders concerned in the last two months.

TRS chief Mr KCR, who arrived in Delhi Friday evening, is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister some time today where the former will urge the latter to take immediate steps on the formation of Telangana state.

KCR, along with his 30-member delegation will also meet Sushma Swaraj, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, besides Azad, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister Chidambaram.

KCR seemed to have sought an appointment with congress president Sonia Gandhi too and it is not yet clear whether he would get an audience with her on Telangana. Meanwhile, Nizamabad Congress MP Mr Madhu Yaskhi Goud said that, going by the indications, the congress leadership is likely to take a decision in favour of Telangana.

“Once the party takes a decision, it will consult other UPA partners on the issue,” he said.

He said other parties such as Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) are also waiting for the decision of the congress party on the issue.
