Former PCC chief Mr D. Srinivas was declared unanimously elected to the Legislative Council this evening.

The deadline for withdrawal of nominations closed at 3 PM today and Mr Srinivas is the only candidate in the fray for the seat which has fallen vacant from the assembly quota after the former chief minister Mr K. Rosaiah had resigned following his appointment as the Tamil Nadu Governor.

Since there are no other candidates, the returning officer declared Srinivas elected unopposed for the single vacancy in the Legislative Council.
