Even as speculation gained momentum today that CBI may arrest senior IAS officers Mr BP Acharya and Sri Lakshmi any day now in the Emaar Properties and Gali Janardhan reddy cases respectively, the investigating agency is preparing itself to quiz more IAS officers in these two cases and also in the case registered against YSR Congress party president Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy for allegedly possessing illegal properties.
While Acharya was the first accused in the Emaar scam, Sri Lakshmi also joined the list of accused in the illegal mining case filed against mining mafia don Gali Janardhan reddy. CBI first examined Sri Lakshmi only as a witness but later they named her as the accused in the case. Recently, CBI questioned another IAS officer Samuel in Jagan’s properties case.
Sources revealed that the investigating agency has prepared a list of some more IAS officers to be quizzed in the three cases.
CBI believes that the three officers played key roles in giving licenses and permits violating rules and regulations during the YSR regime and the three cases are inter linked. The next few days will also unveil a clear picture whether Jagan would join the list of accused in the illegal mining case. CBI will have to prepare a charge sheet in the Gali case before Dec 3.
