The Speaker of the Lok Sabha Ms Meira Kumar has rejected the resignations of the 9 Telangana congress MPs and two TDP MPs of the T region along with that of the lone YSR Congress MP.
The speaker’s secretariat has informed the MPs individually of the decision and said they would continue to be MPs as usual.
It might be said 8 members of the Lok Sabha and 1 member of the Rajya Sabha of the Congress party and 2 TDP members of the Lok Sabha had quit their posts a few months ago demanding the creation of separate state of Telangana.
Mr Mekapati Rajamohana reddy, YSR congress MP had also resigned protesting against the reported inclusion of the name of the late YSR in the FIR filed against YSR congress party chief YS Jaganmohan reddy in the illegal properties case.
The Speaker has rejected all these resignations saying the reasons mentioned in their quit letters are not rational at all.
YSR cong MLAs in agony
Most of the 26 congress MLAs, who have quit the congress party in support the YSR Congress party and also from the assembly, are reportedly worried about the prospects of the Speaker Nadendla Manohar accepting their resignations.
Reports said some of the MLAs have been in touch with the Speaker and are urging him to postpone a decision on their resignations as they are negotiating with the congress party leadership in the state on coming back into its fold.
They feel their political life would come to an end if the Speaker accepts their resignations at this moment.
