In a temporary relief to the main accused in the APIIC-Emaar land scam Mr Koneru Prasad, the special CBI court at Nampally in Hyderabad today granted him a 5-day bail to ensure that he would make his trip to the Sabarimala.

The court directed him to submit his passport to the court officials and surrender in the court on Nov 22. The special judge Mr Naga Maruthi Sarma has ordered the Chanchalguda jail authorities to provide escort constables to Mr Prasad during his 5-day Sabarimala trip.

Earlier, CBI opposed the temporary bail plea of Prasad on the ground he may try to escape to a foreign country. The judge accepted the temporary bail plea of Prasad to make the trip to Sabarimala with police escort on religious grounds.

The court rejected the application of the CBI seeking his custody for further interrogation in the APIIC-Emaar land scam.
