Congress spokesman Mr Abhishek Singhvi today clarified that the issue of Telangana has nothing to do with UP and both can’t be linked.
Addressing a media conference at AICC headquarters in Delhi, Singhvi said the issue of Telangana is a separate one and has no connection with the UP chief minister Mayawathi’s proposal to divide the state into four states.
“The congress is serious on the Telangana issue and almost daily, the party leadership is having consultations on the issue,” he said, adding that the Centre will think of the formation of second SRC only after the UP elections.
Dismissing the proposal of Mayawathi to divide the UP into four parts as a political trick, Singhvi said on a sarcastic note that she had suddenly remembered the issue of division after being in power for four-and-half-years.
“We are not going to do politics over important issues such as Telangana,” he said, adding that the high command will soon find a solution to the issue.
