Srilakshmi asked to file counter on CBI petition

The high court today took up for hearing the CBI petition challenging the bail granted to the suspended IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi in the illegal mining case involving the former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan reddy.

Adjourning further hearing on the CBI petition till Dec 23, the court asked Srilakshmi to file her counter petition on it.

Srilakshmi, accused number 4 in the case, was arrested by the CBI but she was granted bail by the special CBI court after she spent one day in the Chanchalguda jail. CBI has now challenged the bail given to her.

Srilakshmi has been facing allegations of removing the words ‘captive mining’ in the GO issued granting mining leases to the Gali
brothers-owned Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC). CBI has built up the case that the removal of the words has resulted in Gali brothers indulging in illegal mining. (JUBS)
