Jagan busy with patch-up efforts in Delhi?

The scheduled meeting of YSR Congress party President Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy with NCP boss and Union Agriculture minister Mr Sharad Pawar this evening in Delhi was cancelled at the eleventh hour much to the chagrin of the former.

Jagan, who met Pawar on Tuesday, said he had discussed the farmers’ problems with him and would meet him again today to discuss more on the subject. In fact, Minister of State for Food Prof KV Thomas is also scheduled to participate in the meeting.

After the proposed meeting was cancelled in the last minute, YSR Congress party farmers’ wing convener Nagi Reddy said there were politics behind the cancellation of Jagan’s meeting with Pawar. “Congress MPs are responsible for the cancellation,” he told newsmen in Delhi.

However, andhrawishesh.com has come to know of an entirely different angle to the Jagan show in Delhi. Though Jagan has been claiming that he has met Pawar on farmers’ problems, we understand that Jagan has been seeking a patch-up with the congress high command to come out of the web of legal cases he is in.

Jagan not only met Pawar on Thursday but he held consultations with congress MP Mr Rajiv Shukla also. Observers say the talks were centered on patch up formalities only.

Apart from the Thursday’s meeting with Pawar and Rajiv Shukla, Jagan today wanted to meet Prof Thomas who was very close to Sonia Gandhi, congress party president.

There is also a rumour doing the rounds that several AP congress MPs have asked Pawar not to entertain Jagan in the name of discussing farmers’ problems with him. “We wanted to discuss farmers’ problems with you several times in the past but you never cared for us. Now, why are you encouraging Jagan?” they seemed to have asked Pawar following which the meeting has been cancelled.

What is, however, not clear is whether the AP congress MPs have been opposing the patch-up efforts of Jagan with congress high command through mediation of Pawar. There is no necessity for them to ask Pawar not to entertain Jagan if it is only farmers’ issue that Jagan wanted to discuss wit him.
