HC reserves order on Srilakshmi for Dec 28

The AP High Court today reserved for Dec 28 its judgment on the CBI petition seeking the cancellation of bail granted to the suspended IAS officer Srilakshmi, accused number 4 in the illegal mining case involving the former Karnataka minister Mr Gali Janardhan reddy.

The court had asked Srilakshmi to file her counter to the CBI petition by Dec 26. Srilakshmi was supposed to have filed her counter today but the HC didn’t receive any reply from her when the court took up the issue this afternoon.

Special CBI court granted bail to Srilakshmi a few days ago after she spent one day in the Chanchalguda jail following her arrest by the CBI.

The CBI court also granted bail to accused number 3 Mr Rajagopal in the case but suspended it after CBI counsel said that giving bail to Rajagopal would be dangerous as he was planning to run away from the country. The CBI also said that some witnesses have written letters to it alleging threat to their lives from Rajagopal.

The CBI also challenged his bail and the HC will deliver its order on the petition on Monday. (JUBS)
