Hyderabad based lawyer Krishnaiah today filed a PIL in the state high court seeking CBI inquiry into the liquor syndicate scam.
A division bench, consisting of chief justice Madan B Lokur and Justice Sanjay Kumar, which took up the petition for hearing, adjourned the case till January 8 and asked the petitioner to submit the ACB report before the next hearing.
Krishnaiah in his petition said that the ACB’s investigation into the liquor syndicate scam would not be impartial as some ministers and senior officials are reportedly involved in the scam. Giving reference to the ACB raids, Krishnaiah said the ACB has been working under the supervision of the government and its investigation into the liquor scam would be biased.
“Hence, the court should direct the CBI to investigate the matter,” the petitioner prayed.
Listing the matter for further hearing, the court said that directions for a CBI investigation would not be immediately possible as the ACB has already investigated the matter. “First, let us examine the ACB report before ordering CBI investigation,” said the court.
When Krishnaiah pointed out that the ACB has not leaked the report, the court asked him to obtain a copy under the RTI Act. (JUBS)
