Ahead of the TDP supremo Mr Chandrababu Naidu’s Rytu Poru Bata in Warangal district on Jan 6, Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel took up positions in Warangal town and elsewhere in the district as a precautionary measure today.
Police have already arrested several JAC and TRS leaders and activists who vowed to block the Yatra of Naidu in the district. Senior police officials have also warned the TRS and JAC leaders not to make provoking statements.
Protesting against the arrests, hundreds of students tried to lay siege to the Subedari police station but police took them into custody. Senior TRS leaders demanded their immediate release. With the incident, Warangal town looked tense.
Meanwhile, one student who climbed atop a cell tower near Hanumakonda Arts College demanded the cancellation of the tour of Naidu in the district. He was raising slogans that Naidu should tour the district after announcing his party’s policy on the demand for separate Telangana state.
Four students who poured petrol on them and tried to set ablaze themselves were prevented the lecturers and JAC leaders, according to reports. (JUBS)
