Former chief minister and TDP chief Mr Chandrababu Naidu today left Hyderabad for Warangal district to commence his Rytu Poru Bata from Pembarthi in Janagam Mandal amid high tensions in the district following stiff opposition from the TRS and JAC cadres to his Yatra.
As Naidu began his journey from his Jubilee Hills residence around 9 am, more and more TDP workers joined the convoy at several places throughout the journey.
As the convoy reached Tarnaka, OU students tried to stone the vehicles in the convoy but the police resorted to tear gassing them to allow the Naidu convoy a smooth ride.
Again at Aleru in Nalgonda district, hundreds of TRS activists blocked his convoy by hurling stones on vehicles but police chased them away and clashed with them. One vehicle in the convoy was damaged.
Chandrababu and his entourage stopped their journey for a while due to the prevailing tensions at Aleru but resumed the journey again as more and more TDP cadres joined them.
As the convoy reached Janagam, hundreds of TDP cadres extended a warm welcome to the former chief minister and his men.
Naidu takes off despite warning by SP
Naidu decided to conduct his scheduled yatra despite the fact that Warangal SP Mr Rajesh Kumar requested him not to proceed with the yatra as high tension prevailed in the district. Police earlier arrested hundreds of TRS and JAC activists and leaders as precautionary measure.
Warangal bandh
To ensure that Naidu’s yatra ends in failure, TRS and JAC called for a bandh of the district and all business organizations and educational intuitions remained closed in the district.(JUBS)
