Tollywood actor Siva Balaji today attended the Nampally criminal court in Hyderabad in connection with the case booked against him by the traffic police under section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act for drunken driving.
Traffic police caught Balaji driving his Ford Fiesta car in fully intoxicated condition at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at Film Nagar Saturday night in the city and have registered a case against him. Police have also seized his car and asked him to attend the Nampally court today for his offence of drunken driving.
The police conducted a breath analyzer test and found him intoxicated with 39.2 mg over and above the permissible alcohol limit of 30 mg. He was nabbed while driving his car bearing the registration number TN 41S 4701 on his way home at Manikonda.
Mr Sunil Narang, a well known film distributor, was also caught by the traffic police the same night for driving his Honda CRV (No AP10AN 7254) under the influence of alcohol. He was found having 28 mg of alcohol, over and above the permissible limit of 30 mg.
Police registered another case against Narang under section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty) of the IPC for assaulting the police men in addition to the case under section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
It may be recalled that only a month ago the Nampally court suspended the driving license of actor Nikhil for one year after being caught driving his car in intoxicated condition. Very recently, a Medchal court sentenced a businessman to 15 days in jail for the same offence. Actor Navadeep was made to pay a fine after being caught for a similar offence a year ago. (JUBS)
