Vijayamma withdraws petition in SC

The Supreme Court today directed the Pulivendula YSR congress MLA Ms. YS Vijayamma to withdraw her petition seeking transfer of the hearing on her petition against former Chief Minister Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu in the AP High Court to any other HC.

“Either you withdraw it or we will dismiss it outright,” the apex court directed the counsel for Vijayamma following which the petition was immediately withdrawn.

Vijayamma filed the Special Leave Petition(SPL) saying  she had no faith in the AP high court and expressing the fear she might not get justice there on her petition demanding a CBI investigation into the alleged amassing of wealth by Mr Chandrababu Naidu during his regime as the chief minister of AP.

A single judge of the AP High Court heard her petition and ordered a CBI investigation on the alleged misdeeds of Naidu. However, a division bench of the AP High Court later suspended the CBI investigation after the alleged beneficiaries during the Naidu regime challenged the single judge orders for CBI probe. The high court reserved its final judgment on the issue and a decision is awaited soon.

When the petition came up for hearing today, the Supreme Court said that petitioner had questioned the integrity of the judicial system of the country through her petition.

“When your petition is being heard and a judgment is awaited, you are seeking the transfer of the case. It is tantamount to denigrating the country’s judicial system. Either you withdraw it or we will dismiss it outright,” said the apex court. (JUBS)
