The construction work of the much talked about Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) project will take off next month with the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh agreeing to lay the foundation stone on Feb 4.
The project, with an estimated cost of Rs.14, 183 Cr, will cover 71.16 km in the first phase covering three corridors - L. B. Nagar to Miyapur, Jubilee Bus Station to Falaknuma and Nagole to Shilparamam.
The PM will also hand over appointment letters to the employment beneficiaries under the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu (RYK) scheme at a special programme on the same day.
The state-of-the-art project will be completed in five years under the PPP mode by the consortium of Concessionaire and L&T Metro Rail Limited. There will be railway stations per every one km across the corridor.
With the confirmation of the PM’s appointment for the two programmes, Chief Minister Kirankumar reddy has instructed the officials to make appropriate arrangements well in time for their smooth conduct. (JUBS)
