Former APIIC Managing Director and the present principle secretary in the home department Mr BP Acharya today attended the CBI grilling session at its offices at Koti in Hyderabad for his role in the APIIC-Emaar land scam and unconfirmed reports said he was arrested by the country’s apex investigating agency.
Acharya, a senior IAS officer, has been on leave since Friday and the CBI served notices asking him to attend at its offices for questioning on Monday. He promptly turned up before the CBI officials at the scheduled time.
Reports said he was informed of his arrest during the grueling questioning session and the CBI may make an official announcement on his arrest by this evening.
Acharya’s reported arrest comes three or four days ahead of the filing of charge-sheet in the case by the CBI.
Acharya is accused number one in the APIIC-Emaar land scam and would be the fourth person to be arrested in the case. Earlier, the probing agency had arrested Mr Koneru Prasad, Mr Sunil Reddy, a front man of the YSR congress party president Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy and Emaar former employee Mr.Vijya Ragavan.
Acharya, who was also grilled in the past, has been facing the charges of criminal conspiracy and cheating. (JUBS)
