The Supreme Court today dismissed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by TDP MLC Mr Narsa Reddy seeking suspension of the AP High Court order that declared the congress candidate Mr Venkatarami Reddy as elected in the Local Bodies’ Representatives constituency of Nizamabad district.
Dismissing his SLP, the apex court asked him to approach the high court only if he had any grievances. With his SLP getting dismissed, the focus has now shifted to the recounting that will take place on Feb 9 as per the high court orders.
This is second time Narsa Reddy has approached the Supreme Court on the High Court orders. Narsa Reddy was declared elected by the Returning Officer in the election but Venkatarami Reddy approached the HC. The High Court nullified the election of Narsa Reddy and declared Venkatarami reddy as the elected candidate.
Narsa reddy sought reversal of the HC decision from the Supreme Court but the apex court asked him to seek justice in the high court only. Again, the HC declared him as the losing candidate after taking up a recounting of the votes. Narsa Reddy again approached the apex court but second time also his petition was dismissed. (JUBS)
